We’re Not Making New Year’s Resolutions. We’re Practicing Microjoys.

We’re Not Making New Year’s Resolutions. We’re Practicing Microjoys.

We don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions. The idea of a “resolution” assumes something is broken, that something about you needs fixing. We don’t buy into that.  YOU'RE AWESOME.

So instead of resolutions, we’re focusing on microjoys — small, intentional practices that create moments of positivity in your everyday life. Microjoys aren’t about overhauling who you are; they’re about reinforcing what’s already good. Think tiny habits with an outsized impact.

So what are microjoys?
They're small, intentional moments of positive practice. Brief. Repeatable. Tiny actions or thoughts that reinforce well-being without pressure or perfection. We're talking TINY: like a deep breath, a smile, or a positive thought. They signal safety and confidence to your brain. Because they’re small, they’re sustainable. And because they’re frequent, they add up.

We'll share more tips for this to start the year but for now we're starting with our favourite microjoy practice: Badass positive affirmations.

Not the overly serious kind. The kind that feel true and make you smile:

  • I belong here, obviously.

  • I am capable, duh.

  • I am worthy, always.

  • I don't wait for the vibe - I am the vibe.

Science backs this up. Research in psychology and neuroscience (a swoon worthy sciene) shows that repeating just three positive affirmations can shift your mood, reduce stress, and improve problem-solving by activating the brain’s reward and self-processing centers. How cool is that? In plain terms: affirmations help your brain move out of threat mode and into confidence mode. Even brief repetition can change how you approach the rest of your day.

If you want to mix it up, here are a few more fun options:

  • I’ve got this. I always do.

  • I am the energy I want to see in the world.

  • Everything works out for me.

No fixing. No pressure. Just small moments of joy, practiced daily. That’s our kind of fresh start.
